ABSTRACT:

Virtualization is new, at least in its application to production Windows®, Linux, and UNIX® servers. And it does bear special watching. But keeping promises to business users requires that IT operations extend existing processes and tools for end-to-end service management to include the virtualized environment rather than foster silo operations with their own processes and cost. This paper explains why, proposes an approach for IT to manage virtualized environments, and shows how HP Business Service Management software enables IT operations to link specialists and specialized tools into day-to-day operations while keeping promises to business users.
